Port Scanner

Network exploration tool and security port scanner.

Description

A port scanner is a software tool that is used to scan a network host for open network ports. When a device connects to a network, it uses ports to communicate with other devices on the network. An open port is a network port that is listening for incoming connections or traffic.

A port scanner works by sending a series of packets to a target device, with each packet targeting a different port on the device. The port scanner then listens for a response from the device, which indicates whether the port is open or closed. If the port is open, the port scanner will typically try to determine the type of service that is running on the port, such as HTTP, FTP, or SSH.

Port scanners are commonly used by network administrators and security professionals to identify open ports on a network host, as well as the services that are running on those ports. This information can be useful for identifying potential security vulnerabilities or for troubleshooting network connectivity issues.

Target can be:
- hostname (ex. scanme.nmap.org)
- ipv4 address (ex. 1.1.1.1)
- ipv6 address (ex. 2606:4700:4700::1111)
Probe open ports to determine service/version info.
Performs a script scan using the default set of scripts.
Ex: 22 or 200-233 or 21-25,80,139,8080
