Traceroute
Print the route packets trace to network host.
Description
Traceroute is a network diagnostic tool that is used to track the path that data packets take from one networked device to another. It works by sending a series of "ICMP echo request" packets to the target device, with each packet having a progressively higher time-to-live (TTL) value. As the packets are forwarded by each network device along the path, the TTL value is decremented by one. When the TTL value of a packet reaches zero, the device will send an "ICMP time exceeded" message back to the source evice, which includes the IP address of the device that sent the packet.
Traceroute can be used to identify the route that data packets take between two devices, as well as the amount of time it takes for a packet to reach each device along the way. This information can be useful for troubleshooting network connectivity issues and identifying bottlenecks or other problems along the network path. Traceroute is commonly used by network administrators and IT professionals to diagnose and resolve network issues.
